After months of hearing people talk about Starlink, I finally got mine around august, the Gen 2 model, and it has turned out to be one of my best technology investments so far.
Speed and Performance
I consistently get between 100 and 150 Mbps, sometimes even higher depending on the weather. What stands out the most is its stability. Whether it rains or shines, the connection remains strong. Streaming 4K content is seamless with no buffering, and download speeds are impressively fast.
Power Dependency
One important thing to note is that Starlink operates only with electricity. Without power, there is no network. It requires 24-hour electricity to function effectively, so if you are in an area with an unstable power supply, you will need an inverter or generator to keep it running consistently.
Subscription Cost
The monthly subscription costs ₦57,000. While that may sound expensive at first, the speed, reliability, and near-zero downtime make it worth every naira, especially for those who rely on the internet for work, content creation, or streaming.
Device Capacity
The Gen 2 router can support up to 200 connected devices, which is quite impressive. Even though I currently use it alone, it can easily serve a household, office, or small business without performance issues.
Other Features I Appreciate
The setup process is straightforward and takes less than 15 minutes.
It automatically adjusts to locate the best satellite connection for your area.
The latency is low, making it suitable for online gaming and video calls.
The Starlink mobile app provides full control, allowing users to monitor speed, connected devices, and overall connectivity in real time.
Final Verdict
For anyone who depends heavily on the internet, Starlink is absolutely worth it. The speed, reliability, and user-friendly experience make it far superior to most traditional ISPs in Nigeria. The only limitation is its dependence on constant electricity, but with a stable power source or backup system, it remains an excellent choice.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Fast, reliable, and worth every kobo
